Open House - Flood Hazard Risk Assessment
Understanding Flood Hazards and Developing SolutionsIn the spring of 2017, the Township of Spallumcheen was affected by an extreme runoff event caused by rain on snowmelt which resulted in substantial flooding in some areas of the Township and caused damage to municipal infrastructure and private properties. In order to take a proactive approach to flood hazard mitigation and prevention, the Township has undertake a Flood Hazard Risk Assessment to help assess and lessen future risk of flooding over time.
At an open house held in December 2018, the project team gathered valuable information from the community about flooding in Spallumcheen. The Flood Hazard Risk Assessment project in now nearly complete and the Township would like to share the outcomes of the project.
